殉教 　～「大地が叫ぶ」そして「一粒の麦」～

　広島教区（中国地方五県）内には津和野、萩、山口、広島（己斐）、鶴島（岡山県）などあちこちに殉教地があります。今年も津和野の殉教者たちの足跡を全国からの巡礼者たちと共にたどり歩きました。 　殉教地を歩くたびに思います。この大地が血に染まったのだと、神への愛のゆえに、神からの愛のゆえに。そして、殉教地を踏みしめると、「殺され、流された血が大地から神に向かって叫んでいる声」（参照、創世記4:10）が聞こえてきます。殉教者たちは今なお、現代に生きるわたしたちに神の義（神の前での正しさ）に生きよと訴え続けています。 　また、有名な一節をしっかり心に刻み直したい。「もし一粒の麦が地に落ちて死ななければ、それは一粒のままである。しかし、死ねば、豊かな実を結ぶ」と、イエスは約束なさいました。侮辱、苦しみ、孤独を受け入れ、ついには自分のいのちまでも捧げて、まことの愛を証しすることこそ、最高の道だと教えてくださいました。 それを実践した方々、すなわち殉教者たちは、わたしたちを励まし共に歩んでくださっています。

何と心強い事でしょう。

Martyrdom -"Crying from the ground" and " a grain of wheat "- Fr. Simeon Masashi Goto There are several places of martyrdom in Hiroshima diocese (including the 5 prefectures of Chugoku district), such as Tsuwano (Shimane perefecture), Yamaguchi, Koi (Hirosima prefecture), Tsurusima(Okayama prefecture), etc. We retraced footsteps of martyrs in Tsuwano again this year. Walking the road of martydoms, I always deem that this ground turned red with the blood of martyrs, because of their love for God and the Love of God. And I feel the voice of crying; "The voice of your brother's blood is crying to Me from the ground"(Genesis 4;10). Still, the martyrs have been calling upon us, people today, to live according to God's righteousness. Let us recall this famous passage that Jesus has given to us and keep it in our heart firmly. "I tell you the truth, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." (John 12:24) Jesus has shown us the best way to be witnesses of God's love. He accepts indignity, suffering and loneliness, then even sacrificing His own life. People who practiced it, namely martyrs, have been encouraging us and walking with us. It is really reassuring confidence. →
